This project marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainable energy production. We initiated a trial plantation of reed bamboo (Arundo Donax) in August 2023. This project aims to advance plant engineering within 2024, targeting an initial production of 200,000 tons of bio-methanol in the first production year (2027-2028). By 2030, we expect to reach a maximum production capacity of 1.0 million tons. This ambitious project leverages the gasification and synthesis of bamboo biomass to produce bio-methanol, aligning with our broader mission to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and support maritime decarbonization.
In collaboration with our local partner in sugarcane farming, we are currently studying a project to produce biomethanol using sugarcane bagasse from the annual 1.0 million tons of sugarcane production. This project is expected to yield an annual biomethanol volume of 70,000 to 100,000 metric tons, with the potential to achieve a Well-to-Wake GHG reduction of over 70% when used as maritime fuel.
